Job Title: Accounting Manager

Reports to: Controller (Consumer Segment)

Location: Alpharetta GA or Hicksville, NY


The Accounting Manager is a new role within the Consumer Business at Priority Payments, reporting to the Segment Controller. This position is responsible for verifying financial records and transactions, reviewing and certifying monthly account reconciliations, assisting with quarterly reviews and annual audit; as well as adhering to, and confirming compliance with established internal control requirements. 

Job Functions & Duties:

  • Review and post journal entries.

  • Monitor checklist of responsibilities for the accounting team to ensure all entries and schedules are prepared timely.

  • Lead accounting team through monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close processes, ensuring accurate, complete and timely reporting. 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year end financials and related schedules.

  • Review (or create) trend / variation analysis for Revenue and Expense Accounts.

  • Review and certify Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations and follow up with team members to resolve reconciling items timely.

  • Review monthly residual payments to independent sales offices and internal sales representatives.

  • Work with Segment Controller on select projects.

  • Support internal and external audit teams with audit requests.

  • Proactively communicate potential concerns and recommendations to leaders.

  • Operate with an innovative and flexible mindset by continuously identifying ways to improve the department’s practices to enhance consistency, efficiency, quality and value.

  • Encourage/implement cross training among team members, and train new team members.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in Finance / Accounting.

  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and accounting best practices. 

  • Strong knowledge of Finance and Accounting Principles.

  • Experience using NetSuite.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on strong Excel skills.

  • Highly organized, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to define and communicate business issues to leadership team and build close cross-functional relationships.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is plus.
